Moletto
Wines
The Moletto winery extends luxuriant with vines to the
extreme eastern edge of the province of Treviso where
the soil of the "Marca Trevigiana" is washed down by
the Livenza river. At that time it was governed by the
Republic of Venice who recorded Moletto - in an official
document conserved in the Venetian State Archives -
as one of the seven areas of Motta. The community of
Motta had always been served by the generous reserves
of lumber found in the surrounding woods which furnished
the reconstruction work necessary after the invasion
of the Hungarians in 912. The lumber was also used to
fuel the furnaces that baked the bricks used for the
most prestigious works of beautification and fortification,
such as the "Castello della Motta", reconstructed in
1413 and the "Torresin" on Monticano in 1502. |
